1. Dead Detective Boys

The series is set in the same universe as the Netflix series, Sandman, and is based on the books by British author Neil Gaiman. The fantasy follows the story of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two teenagers born decades apart, but who become best friends in the afterlife.

The two work together as ghosts to solve mysteries. With the collaboration of a clairvoyant and her friend, they use their powers to help the dead and the living.

2. Avatar: The Last Airbender

The live-action adaptation of the Nicklodeon animation tells the story of Aang, a young Avatar who is learning to control the powers of the four elements (water, earth, fire and air). He seeks to restore balance to a world under attack by the Fire Nation.

In the fantasy, Aang joins his Water Tribe friends on an epic adventure. As they try to save the world, they encounter a series of enemies who want to prevent Aang from reaching his potential as the Avatar.

3. One piece

The manga A piece, written by Eiichiro Oda, is one of the best-selling films of all time. The live-action film produced by Netflix follows Monkey D. Luffy and his team of Straw Hat Pirates.

With the power to stretch his body like rubber, Luffy dreams of becoming the Pirate King. To do this, you need to find a treasure known as One Piece. But he is not the only one to maintain this ambition. Luffy will have to face other pirates, some also with great powers, if he wants to achieve his goal.

4. The Legend of Korra

70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a new Avatar seeks to bring harmony to the human nations and the spiritual world. Korra is a fierce and sometimes headstrong warrior who grew up in isolation. Korra’s story takes place in a fantasy world with greater technological advances and more urbanization than the original.

5. Arcane

Despite Arcane is based on the games of League of Legends, you don’t need to know the video game to watch the series. The fantasy tells the story of two sisters divided by a war between the prosperous and haunted city of Piltover and the oppressed sub-city of Zaun.

In this universe, two brilliant inventors find a way to fuse magic with technology. They will thus trigger a series of events that will cause the intensification of old tensions and the emergence of new heroes willing to face them.

6. The Sandman

The adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC comic series follows Morpheus, the Dream King, on his quest to regain his power and right the wrongs of the past after being trapped for more than 100 years.

Fantasy features elements such as cosmology, occultism, living nightmares, demons, and even personal death. The live-action debuted on Netflix in 2022 and streaming promises the arrival of new episodes, which will expand the Sandman universe by involving members of Morpheus’ family.

7. The witcher

The series is an adaptation of the fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which also inspired a video game. In the story, Geralt of Rivia is a monster hunter who finds himself entangled in the fate of Ciri, an orphaned princess with strange magical powers.

Geralt has great difficulty staying away from the machinations of rival monarchs and sorcerers, especially a seductive sorceress named Yennefer.

Until the third season, Geralt was played by Henry Cavill. But on Wednesday and Thursday, actor Liam Hemsworth will take on the role.

8. Greedy

Based on a series of comics created by Canadian author Jeff Lemire, the fantasy is set after a pandemic wipes out much of the population. In this world, hybrids between animals and humans begin to arise, raising questions about whether these creatures are the cause or consequence of the devastating disease.

Half human, half deer, Gus abandons his solitary life for nature after his father’s death in hopes of finding his mother.

The third and final season of Sweetness just arrived in streaming.

9. Lucifer

This is an adaptation of a spin-off of The Sandman, written by the American Mike Carey. This time the devil gets tired of dealing with hell and leaves the job behind him. He goes on holiday to Los Angeles, where he opens a nightclub.

But he also ends up working on solving supernatural crimes, while dealing with angels, demons, and gods in their own machinations. Lucifer started on Fox, but was canceled on the channel and renewed by Netflix.

10. The Dragon Prince

A young prince, his half-brother, and an elf assassin embark on a perilous journey to return a dragon egg to his mother and end the war between humans and magical creatures in the universe of Xadia.

The sixth season of the fantasy is expected to arrive on Netflix later this year. The story was created by Aaron Ehasz, who served as head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
