The creators of “Stranger Things” announced a new production deal with Netflix on Wednesday (5/6) and revealed that the development of five projects, which will be carried out through their new production company, Upside Down Pictures – is named after from the English name of Sottosopra.

Two of the new works, among other things, will be set in Upside Down: the series taken from “Stranger Things” mentioned in the interviews and a play based on the series, which will be produced by Sonia Friedman (producer of the comedy “Harry Potter and the Curse”) and director Stephen Daldry (“Billy Elliot”).

The other projects are a live-action series based on the anime “Death Note”, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “Talisman”, and an original series by Jeffrey Addis and Will Matthews, creators of “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. “.

The production of “Death Note” will not be related to the movie released on Netflix in 2017, but there is no further information on the approach.

The Talisman project is a co-production with Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television. It is worth noting that the 1984 novel was mentioned at the end of “Stranger Things” season 4.

The Duffers say Upside Down Pictures will aim to create the kind of story that inspired them as children. “Stories that take place in that beautiful crossroads where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where the great spectacle coexists with the intimate work of the characters, where the heart wins over cynicism”, they described in a note.

At the moment, all five projects are under development.

The Duffer Brothers’ deal with Netflix also covers the making of the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things,” in co-production with Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps.
