House of the Dragon Season 2: The first reviews have arrived after episode 1

Warning, spoilers. Before continuing reading this article, it is recommended to watch the first episode of “Dragon House” season 2.

After two years of waiting, Dragon House Season 2 is finally here on your screens! The continuation of the series derived from Game of Thrones, which promises to be bloody, began its weekly broadcast on the MAX platform, which recently arrived in France.

Let me remind you, this adaptation of the novel Fire and blood by George RR Martin is a prequel series centered on the tragic story of the tensions, betrayals, jealousies and complex alliances of the Targaryen family, set almost 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones.

The first episode that sets the tone

After a twist-filled first season of the show, notably marked by the tragic death of Luceris, son of Rhaenyra (Emma d’Arcy), who was “accidentally” killed by Aemond Targaryen (Iwan Mitchell), Alicent’s son. Olivia Cooke) as he chased after her on the back of his dragon Vagar.

This event will change everything in the conflict between Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney), who reigns on the Iron Throne thanks to the shenanigans of his Hightower family and their allies, and Rhaenyra Targaryen, eldest daughter of the late King Viserys I.

War is declared between the Greens and the Blacks, and after the requisite mourning, Rhaenyra wants blood: “son for son.” He wants revenge and to kill the person responsible for the death of his son, Luceris.

Her husband (and uncle by the way) Damon Targaryen (Matt Smith) takes her at her word and pays a small mercenary of rodents to kill Aemond in her sleep. But the groomsmen make a mistake – an event called “Blood and Cheese” by George A.R. In Martin’s novel, the sisters attack the children of Helena Targaryen (Fia Saban), wife (and sister, by the way) of “Aegon II”.

A sad helpless woman will witness the murder of her son and, therefore, Aegon’s heir and flee to find her mother Alicent, sharing an intimate moment with the knight Christon Cole (Fabien Frankel). Very hypocritical behavior from two heroes who had previously criticized Renira’s attitude.

Most fans were won over by the first episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, even if some were disappointed with the show’s “blood and cheese” side of events that differed from the book.

“I’m sorry, but Blood and Cheese was horribly adapted and the scene relied solely on Fia Saban’s acting (and she gave it her all). It’s a shame the writers thought the sex scene between Alicent and Cole was more important.”

With this first episode of Season 2, House Dragon has just come to the heart of the matter and began the famous “Dance of Dragons”, a bloody war that lasted several years and destroyed the Targaryen Empire. The next episodes promise other twists and especially another death.

The first episode of “Dragon House” season 2 is available on the MAX platform.
