First role at the age of 15
But before taking a walk on the deck of the Titanic to James Cameron’s spotlight, the talented British actor also started at the bottom of the ladder, and his first foot as an actor was on much more modest platforms.
So, 33 years ago, when he was just 15 years old, he discovered his future profession by playing one of the main actors in the science fiction series Dark Season for the BBC. He played Rit, a young teenager who did everything he could with his classmates to fight against Mr. Eldritch, a strange stranger who was handing out laptops to every student in the school.
From Dark Season to Titanic
Having previously studied theater and comedy at Redroofs Theater School and then Starmaker Theater Company, he appeared on many stages before moving to the screen.
After his first experience in the series Dark Season, he played other small roles in various television films and sitcoms, and it was not until March 1993 that his career took a new dimension when he was chosen to play one of the heroes. Psychological drama Celestial Beings, directed by Peter Jackson.
After this professionally recognized demanding role, Kate Winslet moved on to more important performances. Casting Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility, he was chosen in 1997 to star in the gigantic cinematic epic that would become Titanic.
