iPhone control on macOS
The main innovation of iOS 18 Beta 2 is the introduction of iPhone Mirroring, a feature that mirrors the iPhone screen on macOS. After connecting both devices, you can see the entire mobile screen on your computer, open apps, control the system with mouse and keyboard, and quickly transfer files after clicking and dragging documents.
To test it, the person also needs to download the new Beta version of operating system for computers.
How to download the new Beta
You can update iOS via the following path as long as you participate in the Apple Developer Program:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap “General”;
- Select “Update Software“;
- Press “Beta Updates”;
- Choose the new iOS 18 Developer Beta version.

What’s new in iOS 18
The new generation of the iPhone system focuses on customization: it is possible to freely position the app icons on the screen, arrange them in the color you prefer and choose which commands to make available in the Control Center and on the lock screen. Additionally, iOS offers a new app to manage passwords, an option to lock or hide apps from the home screen, and improvements to the Mail app: see a news summary.
And what about Apple’s intelligence?
Apple Intelligence’s suite of AI features was the biggest highlight of Apple’s announcements during WWDC, but it’s not yet available. Apple has confirmed that the service is expected to enter the Beta phase only during the Northern Hemisphere autumn, which will begin in late September.
It is worth mentioning that not all iPhones will be compatible with the new feature: only in principle iPhone 15 Pro AND iPhone 15 Pro Max AI tools win. According to the company itself, older models are excluded due to hardware limitations.
