The hot June will end with a sharp drop in temperatures in the South, in much of the South-East and Central-West and also in Rondônia and Acre.
The arrival of a strong cold front this weekend, the last of June 2024, promises to cause a sudden drop in temperature in several regions of Brazil, especially in the south.
This will be the first strong temperature drop of winter 2024with intense cold in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which could even record temperature records between Sunday and next Monday, July 1st.

Period of intense cold
The period of intense cold will last from June 28 to July 2, 2024, with
highlighting the southern states of Brazil.
TO purple area of the maptemperatures will be very low in this period, with widespread frosts expected between the central-south and east of Paraná up to the south of Rio Grande do Sul. with a maximum temperature of 28.8°C, equal to that of 8 June,
1992, the highest temperature on a June day in the capital of Sao Paulo at least since then
at least 1961.
The afternoon of Friday 14 June 2024 was the warmest
Porto Alegre for one day in June since at least 1997, with the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) recording a maximum temperature of 32.4°C. The normal average maximum temperature in June in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul is 20.3°C, according to Inmet calculations for the period from 1991 to 2020.
On June 25, 2024, the National Institute of Meteorology recorded an impressive temperature of 37.8°C in Cuiabá, an extremely high temperature for a day in June and one of the 10 highest of 2024 so far. This value is probably the highest June temperature in the capital of Mato Grosso since measurements began in 1911.
