The president is not under investigation because he took office days before his departure, after his predecessor resigned for “personal reasons”
The Federal Police is investigating a possible manipulation that occurred on June 1 between Inter de Limeira and Patrocinense in the Brazilian Serie D. Given the public repercussions, the president of Patrocinense, Roberto Avatar, said he was alerted to a suspected attempt to manipulate the game in question. His team, in fact, conceded three goals in the first half, as expected from the suspected fraud.
However, the top hat is not being investigated. This is because he took office days before the match, after his predecessor, Ronaldo Corrêa, resigned for “personal reasons”.
“There were already people who sent messages that should have opened their eyes, that there could be abnormal results there. Those involved in football have contacts with all of Brazil, there are several people with whom we have contacts and many say that there could be some relevant fact there that could be ‘out of line’. But we will leave it to the Federal Police to investigate,” the president said in an interview with “TV Integração”.

Understand the case
The investigation began after the CBF sent a report from Sportradar, indicating that bettors knew that one of the clubs would lose the first half by at least two goals. At the time, the football management of Patrocinense was carried out in partnership with the Air Golden company, owned by Anderson Ibrahim, who said that he would analyze the case files before taking a position.
Among the players brought by Ibrahim were striker Thiago Ribeiro, formerly of Cruzeiro, and coach Estevam Soares, formerly of Palmeiras and Botafogo. Soares, who is among those investigated in the operation, said he was “surprised” by the Federal Police’s action.
One day after the defeat against Inter, which kept Patrocinense in last place in Group A7 of Serie D, the club ended its collaboration with Air Golden, specifying that Anderson Ibrahim no longer represented the team. Also, on the same day, Estevam Soares was dismissed and several players were expelled.
At the time, the club reported that the decision was made due to “the team’s poor performance in the Brazilian Serie D championship”. Additionally, the team faced problems with delayed salaries, leading some players to go on strike days before the game. A
The President assures that the club is collaborating
The president of Patrocinense, Roberto Avatar, confirmed the investigations at the club headquarters and declared that he is collaborating with the Federal Police. However, the club denied the involvement of any current member of the institution in the case, be it athlete or official.
“Our institution has promptly responded to all requests made by Federal Police agents, with the aim of contributing to the investigation. Clube Atlético Patrocinense informs that no member of the current board of directors, the current technical committee and no athlete belonging to the current squad of the club has any involvement in the aforementioned process, maintaining all its professional ties with the institution,” the club said.
