NCIS: 20 years later, Sean Murray (McGee) recalls the accident that happened on the set

He is now one of the last historical cast members of NCIS: Special Investigations. It has been more than 20 years since Sean Murray played the role of Agent McGee in the famous American detective series. And in 21 seasons, the actor has accumulated a lot of anecdotes from the filming, which he does not fail to share with his fans whenever he has the opportunity.

Sean Murray is dealing with the after effects of his injury

As a guest on the Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast, in which Michael Weatherly (DiNozzo) and Cote de Pablo (Ziva) watch old episodes of the series, Sean Murray recalled one of the injuries he suffered on the set of NCIS Season 2.

In this episode, which aired in 2004, his character embarked on a frantic chase to catch a suspect, ending up with an automated car wash stand. An action scene that seriously injured Sean Murray.

I was running on the car wash stand, which I have done many times and it was a real stand“, he explained. “I remember taking a sharp right turn… my shoes fell out because I was running so fast. I fall on my right hand.”

And, you know, like a lot of other actors, we kind of stick with it and keep doing our thing. You don’t really realize what you’re doing until the scene is over. I still have very limited mobility in my right thumb.A minor injury, which, of course, did not prevent the actor from continuing to play the character of McGee.

Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, the characters of their own series

A few months ago, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo announced the upcoming arrival of the series around DiNozzo and Ziva to the Paramount+ platform. Titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva, this new detective fiction will see our two heroes on the run with their daughter across Europe after being targeted.

They will do anything to find out who decided to attack them. As of now, we don’t yet know if any of the NCIS: Special Investigations cast will appear in this new series.

However, you’ll have to be patient to discover NCIS: Tony & Ziva, as filming will only begin this summer in Budapest, airing in late 2024-early 2025.
