Even without having seen The Shining, everyone has heard of his twin sisters, whom little Danny Torrence met in the hallways of the Overlook Hotel. These little girls trick a young boy into coming and playing with them, but they see the dead, scare him, and decide to cover his eyes. When he opens them again, they are gone.
But a small detail from Stanley Kubrick’s film, which is also featured in Stephen King’s novel, caught on ColliderUndermining what most viewers think of these two characters.
Scary kids
Brady sisters
Stuart Ullman gives us the information during the interview with Jack Torrance at the beginning of the film:
This is the true story of the hotel that inspired The Shining
“My predecessor hired a certain Charles Grady as a bodyguard. He came with his wife and two daughters, about 8 and 10 years old. He was considered competent, had good references. To people he seemed perfectly normal, harmless, but at some point during the winter he had a nervous breakdown, Maddened, he hacked the bodies to death with an ax in one of the rooms “in the west wing, then put the double barrel of a shotgun in their mouths.”

They are not twins!
Although Ullman’s story can be interpreted as the girls being the same age, and he is no longer sure whether they are both 8 or 10, the novel shines Writes King’s intention in black and white – Kubrick most likely adopted it in his third chapter. Ullman’s assistant, Bill Watson, said of Grady’s children:

Too bad for little girls. They were eight and six years old. Sweet as hearts. It was quite a disaster.
Therefore, it is impossible for the little girls to be twins unless they are the same age in the movie as in the novel. Maybe they’re characters other than the Grady girls? But Danny’s visions of them being axed seem to imply otherwise.
If they’ve always been nicknamed “The Shining Twins,” it’s because of their similar outfits, heights, and hairstyles that do their best to blur the line.
So don’t make the mistake of talking about “shining sisters”, they will take you back and then you will be able to shine in society. thanks who
