The capital will face the first wave of cold temperatures in the winter of 2024

Sunday 30th will be cold in São Paulo. According to the Emergency Management Center (CGE), of the Municipality of São Paulo, the sun could appear even between many clouds, but the icy winds cause a sharp drop in temperatures. Maximum temperatures should not exceed 16°C, while minimum temperatures can reach 11°C during the night.

The capital is facing the first cold wave of winter 2024. The municipal Civil Protection has already declared a state of alert throughout the city, starting from 10:30 on Friday 28.

Temperatures are expected to remain low until Tuesday, July 2. According to forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), in the capital São Paulo, thermometers are expected to record a minimum of 10ºC and a maximum of 14ºC on Monday.

The arrival of the cold front will mark a break in the cycle of hot days that has taken hold in Brazil since the beginning of May, with heat records recorded during the period.

The cold will be even more intense in the south of the country, with widespread frost forecast across almost the entire region. In the highest areas of the Gaúcha and Catarinense mountains, temperatures will be negative up to -8°C.

Frost is also expected in southern Mato Grosso do Sul, and temperatures will be below the seasonal average in most of the state. According to Climatempo, the temperature drop should also be significant in southern Mato Grosso.
