This species of arachnid (Heteropoda venatoria) is not considered dangerous to humans, but produces enough venom to deliver a very painful sting.

A Brazilian couple was scared off by a giant, unwanted visitor: a crab spider (Heteropod hunting), who sat placidly on a wall in the bathroom of the apartment where they live in Australia.

Victory Magliani AND Gabriele Maglianiboth 27, lived in Praia Grande, on the south coast of São Paulo, before moving to the Gold Coast in 2023. The city, located in the state of Queensland, is about a thousand kilometers from Canberra, the Australian capital.

A very large spider

According to the couple, the crab spider was more than 15 centimeters long. To get the animal out of the house, Gabriel used a jar to catch it and then opened the container in the backyard of the building. “There was no point in killing her”He explained.

“We prepare for pretty much everything, not just seeing kangaroos,” said in a joking tone. “We were scared because it was huge. I was very scared. If it hadn’t been for Gabriel, I don’t know what I would have done, because I wouldn’t have had the courage to kill it, much less capture it.”said the woman.

Victoria said that after a year and three months of living in the countryside, she was warned by acquaintances and friends of possible visitors of animals of this type in the homes.

In addition, the couple conducted research on the fauna “alarming” in the Oceania country before leaving Brazil. Despite all the warnings received, the fright at seeing the giant arachnid was great.

This spider is not considered dangerous to humans, but it produces enough venom to deliver a very painful bite. Females are larger than males.
