Beetlejuice 2 to open this year’s Venice Film Festival

The Ghosts Still Have Fun: Beetlejuice Beetlejuicelong-awaited sequel to The ghosts have funa 1988 feature film, will be the opening film of this year’s Vezena Festival. The new film will be shown for the first time on August 28th, at Sala Grande, the main stage of the event.

“The Ghosts Still Have Fun marks the return of one of cinema’s most iconic characters Tim Burtonbut also a very welcome confirmation of the extraordinary and visionary talent of one of the most fascinating authors of his time”stated Alberto Barberahead of the Venice Film Festival [via Deadline].

Burton also celebrated the opportunity to launch his new film at the Venice Film Festival, which already honored him with an honorary Golden Lion in 2007:“I’m really excited for this. It means a lot to me that the first screening of The Ghosts Still Have Fun be in Venice”he declared.

What we already know about The Ghosts Still Have Fun?

In The Ghosts Still Have Fun: Beetlejuice Beetlejuicethree generations of the family Deetz return to the house in Winter River, which is still haunted by Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). There, the life of Lydia (Winona Ryder) is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega, Wandinha), discovers the mysterious model of the city in the attic, and the portal to the afterlife is accidentally opened.
