A BIG SPOILER FOR THE FIRST EPISODE BELOW

He survives, but his wife and daughter are murdered in their home.. The grieving Reece has only one thing on his mind: revenge.
After making his kill list and double-checking it, he plans to hunt down his enemies with the help of his best friend and fellow SEAL Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) and reporter Katie Buranek (Constance Wu). What follows is a murky and ruthless tale of revenge, with more twists and turns than Chris Pratt’s exhaustive exercise regimen, so… you’re going to need us to explain it to you.
‘The final list’, season 1 ending explained
As we reach the final chapter, things get complicated for Reece. Exploits (literally) Admiral Pillar, who was an accomplice in the death of his companions and the murder of his family, so now he’s a wanted man. Along the way, he learns that he and his fellow soldiers were part of an unapproved drug experiment without either of them knowing.
They were given some pills as part of a medical program that was designed to prevent post-traumatic stress disorder in soldiers, but the experiment did not work and caused brain tumors in the soldiers. For this, the squad was killed on the mission to dispose of the evidence. However, Reece and another soldier named Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers survived. They made Boozer’s death at his house look like a suicide, while Reece’s never materialized because she survived the attack at the hospital.
Having massacred almost everyone involved, Secretary Lorraine Hartley (Jeanne Tripplehorn) now tops Reece’s list. He knows she was involved, as does reporter Katie Buranek, whose investigations have made her suspicious of Hartley’s actions. Katie believes that Hartley received a cover-up payment under the shell company Oberon Analytics, as an anonymous beneficiary intends to send her story to print.
Hartley prevents her from publishing her “defamatory” and “inaccurate” story and instead convinces her to come to his house to find out the truth of what happened. Katie’s thirst to discover the truth of her story leads her to accept her proposal. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Tony (JD Pardo), who was previously fired up about Reece’s capture, begins to doubt who the real villains are. Now, Believing Reece to be the victim, he is determined to set things right despite being taken off the case..
Back at Hartley’s house, Katie finds inconsistencies in the Secretary’s account of Operation Odin Sword. The timeline of events doesn’t add up, and a persuasive Katie presses Hartley to tell her more. Katie’s interrogation forces Hartley to admit the truth: she knew about the tumors and the plan to wipe out the troops.but chose to remain silent to protect his reputation and the drug trial he intends to continue.
During a heated argument with Katie, she argues that any of those murdered men would have willingly given up their lives knowing that their sacrifice could help end their comrades’ post-traumatic stress. Katie is less than convinced and promises to publish the truth.. Hartley stops her, but Katie becomes the least of her worries. Reece has arrived and intends to kill her.
Hartley tries to escape, almost making it thanks to Tony and the rest of the military shooting at Reece, but unfortunately for Hartley, Reece catches up with her. Despite her initial good intentions, he has every intention of showing her no mercy, but, before he can do anything to her, Hartley commits suicide.. Reece prepares to escape, but is discovered by Tony, who tries to capture him. In the end, his sympathy for the Marine wins out and he lets him go.
Three weeks pass and Katie’s story has been published, exposing the truth about Operation Odin Sword to the world.. Reece stops communicating with Katie, but not before she gives him the last piece of the puzzle. Information from him helps him find out who was the anonymous beneficiary behind Oberon Analytics and, in turn, the mole who leaked the wrong tip that led to the deaths of all of his teammates.
The discovery is heartbreaking: it is about Ben.
Ben admits to Reece that he had only done it because he believed the tumors would kill them. He tells Reece: “I thought: Let them die with their fucking boots on instead of in a hospital bed.”.
Reece questions the truth behind this confession, asking if money was the real motive for Ben’s actions, to which he replies, “Maybe both?”. Phew! A blow to Reece, who will no doubt feel this betrayal even more strongly given the journey they have just embarked on together.
Ben denies any involvement in the deaths of Reece’s wife and daughter, Laura (Riley Keough) and Lucy (Arlo Mertz), adding that he is disgusted by what happened to them and that he also sought revenge. He knows this will make little difference to Reece, and tells him, “Okay. Let’s finish the list.”.
The camera switches to the view of his boat, where the conversation has taken place, and as he drives away we hear gunshots in the distance.
After all the spilled blood and all the deaths, Reece can finally find peace because he has been able to make everyone responsible pay. Shortly after, moreover, she fully recalls the memory that she has been struggling to recall all season.
In the flashback he is trying to find the words to prepare Lucy (his daughter) for the possibility that she might die on the battlefield. With both of her parents by her side, Lucy is able to come to terms with the harsh realities of her job. Ironically, it is at this moment that Reece accepts the death of his family, symbolized when he throws his kill list overboard with Lucy drawing on the back.
