The meeting with the economic team takes place in the afternoon
BRASILIA – The President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva meets this Wednesday morning, 3, with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddadto discuss the government’s fiscal policy. The meeting, which takes place outside the agenda, is held in the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the Presidency of the Republic.
On Tuesday 2, Haddad told reporters that on Wednesday he will present proposals to the CEO to ensure compliance with the fiscal framework in 2024, 2025 and 2026, the last year of the PT member’s current mandate. The minister did not want to set a date for the publication of the measures and stressed that teams have been working on the issue for 60 days.
“I don’t want to set a date because we have been working on it for 60 days. The president is mobilizing the Planning, the Civil Chamber and the Treasury not only to prepare the 2025 budget, but also to execute the 2024 budget. And he is worried,” Haddad said yesterday.
Lula’s official agenda includes another meeting in the afternoon with Haddad to discuss the rise of the dollar. For the president, the movement occurs because of “speculation against the real.” “We have to do something,” Lula said Tuesday 2, in an interview with a Bahia radio station, announcing the meeting to discuss the issue and other issues related to the economy.
The meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m. will be attended, in addition to Haddad, by the ministers of the Civil Housing, Rui Costa; of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet; of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck; the executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dario Durigan; and the special secretary for the Government Analysis of the Civil Housing, Bruno Moretti.
