Born of necessity when George Lucas was doing Star Wars and needed a special effects house to produce the spaceships and other visuals, Industrial Light & Magic has long since become one of the best in the business. Now, the company and the people who founded it, as well as those who currently work there, are featured in a Disney + documentary series called light and magicand you can find the trailer below.
The series, directed by Lawrence Kasdan (who is no stranger to ILM through his work on the worlds of Star Wars Yes Indiana Jones) directs and produces the new series, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the company has moved away from its rebellious beginnings and how it has grown to influence and work alongside a generation of directors.
Respondents who share their memories include Lucas, Ron Howard, Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and ILM veterans Dennis Muren, Phil Tippett, Joe Johnston, Rose Duignan and Lynwen Brennan.
light and magic will be released in a six-episode block on Disney + on July 27.
