The end of season 4 of The Boys is just around the corner, ending July 18 on Prime Video. While waiting for the final outcome of this final season of Eric Kripke’s series based on the Garth Ann and Darric Robertson comic of the same name, the revelations are starting to rain.
And there’s a big one involving one of The Boys’ season four newcomers: Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The actor, known for his roles as Negan on The Walking Dead, Danny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy and the comedian in Watchmen: Guardians, has reunited with Eric Kripke, with whom he collaborated on Supernatural, to play John Winchester.
In Season 4 of The Boys , Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Joe Kessler, an officer in charge of CIA affairs and a former war buddy of Butcher’s (Karl Urban) who wants to stop Homelander (Anthony Starr) with him.
What exactly is the character of Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
Over the course of the episodes, the two friends often meet to discuss, reminisce about the war – or argue like an old couple – about the best plan to come up with to put an end to the evil superhero’s actions.
And at the end of episode 5, Butcher and Kessler find nothing better to do than kidnap and kill (with a leg amputated) Dr. Samer Shah (Omid Abtah), a companion of Victoria Neumann (Claudia Dumitt) and her father. Their daughter Zoe, who was head of Vought’s research and development department.
The latter would be the only one capable of replicating the virus developed by Gen V’s spin-off series scientists, reducing the Homelander to nothing. Except that The Boys Season 4 Episode 6 reveals a troubling but important element.
Kessler is actually in Butcher’s head, as is his ex-wife Becca (Chantel VanSanten), who appears to him in a vision. Kessler had been killed in the Panchir Valley a few years before, and Bucher had abandoned him to his fate. His guilt towards her, but also towards Becca, materializes in the visions as her illness, a brain tumor doped with Compound V.
What will be the consequences of the continuation of “Boys”?
Butcher is greatly disturbed by this revelation, as he realizes that his ex-wife and Kessler are actually both good and evil, talking to him and conjuring themselves into his head and into his very sick body.
If Bacher is in bad shape physically and psychologically, he is also troubled morally. As Dr. Samer Shah explains to him that the dose of super virus will not be enough to kill the Homelander. It must be unstable and therefore airborne. It would be highly contagious and super lethal to anyone with compound V, including all supers.
More than a pandemic, this strategy of spreading the super virus amounts to committing genocide. Obviously, Becca tries to talk Butcher out of this radical, tragic, and immoral decision, and Kessler pushes the boundaries, reminding him that he’s always dreamed of this since Homelander took Becca.
This revelation could have dramatic consequences for the rest of The Boys, given that Butcher is determined to finish Homelander. But with a desire for revenge at all costs, won’t Bill go mad and bring about an irreversible end? He would be no better than Homelander, the super villain he was sworn to fight.
The Boys Season 4 Episode 6 and its reveal sets the stage for an explosive finale in this final episode blast that promises to reveal all the cards as we envision the final showdown and epic conclusion to the fifth and final season. Eric Kripke series.
