The Duffers will lower the average of almost 90 minutes per chapter that season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ has had
The duffer brothersthe creative minds behind ‘Stranger Things’, have explained why the episodes of season 4 of the series are so long and have revealed that the fifth installment will presumably have shorter episodes.
The average of the 9 chapters of the fourth season stood at almost 90 minutes, with the end of ‘Stranger Things 4’: Part 2 running as long as two and a half hours. The directorial duo have commented on Josh Horowitz’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast that They ‘don’t expect’ season 5 episodes to be this longexcept for the last chapter of the series.
“We’re more likely to do what we did in this one, which is just have a two-and-a-half hour episode,” Matt Duffer said.
Matt also explained why the ‘Stranger Things 4’ episodes were ultimately so long.
“The only reason we don’t expect it to last that long is because this season, if you look at it closely, it has a prologue that’s almost two hours long. before our children are really drawn into a supernatural mystery. You get to know them, you get to see them in their lives, they’re struggling to adjust to high school and so on. Steve is trying to find a date, all that, ”he said, referring to the timeline of ‘Stranger Things’ in its fourth season.
“Obviously, none of that will happen in the first two episodes of the new season.Matt continued. “For the first time, we didn’t wrap things up at the end of Season 4: ‘Stranger Things’ Part 1.”
When it comes to the pacing and starting point of the final season, Matt noted that “it will move fast”, although they are not sure if “it will move at 100 miles per hour”.
He went on to explain, “The characters are already going to be in action, they’re already going to have a goal and a drive, and I think you’ll see that for the first two hours and will make this season feel really different.”
“I’m sure the ending will be a lot longer,” added Matt, before laughing: “It’s going to be like ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’, with eight endings“.
