Venezuela and Canada met this Friday (4) in a duel for the quarter-finals of the Copa América. After a thrilling 1-1 draw, with a great goal by Rondón for Venezuela, while Shaffelburg scored for Canada. The match thus ended on penalties and the Canadian team emerged victorious by winning the alternative kicks by 3-2.

Canada’s rival in the semifinals will be Argentina. On Thursday, the Hermanos eliminated Ecuador on penalties. The duel will take place this Tuesday, at 9:00 p.m. (Brasilia time), at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Electrifying first half
Canada started better, trying to attack. Shaffelburg had already complained about a tackle in the area for which the referee had not awarded a penalty. At ten, defender Bombito saved twice, a sure goal for the Canadians. But at 12′ there was no escape: Jonathan David’s cross found Shaffelburg well positioned. The attacker played with no escape for goalkeeper Romo. Canada 1 to 0. The first half thus ended with a partial victory for the Canadian team.
Rondón’s great goal leaves the score level
In the second half, Venezuela recovered better and was rewarded with a great goal by Rondón, who took advantage of the advanced goalkeeper and scored almost from midfield. 1 to 1. The game continued, however, with wasted opportunities on both sides, but with Rondón and his teammates slightly superior. In the end, Canada pressed without too much danger on Romo’s goal. Thus, in regulation time, the game ended 1-1.
