Steven Yeun joins the new film from the director of “Parasite”.

Actor Steven Yeun, Oscar nominee for “Minari”, has joined the cast of “Mickey7”, the new film from South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, winner of four Oscars for “Parasite”.

The actor and director had previously worked together on the 2017 film “Okja”, released by Netflix.

Yeun will join a cast that already includes Robert Pattinson (“Batman”), Naomi Ackie (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”), Mark Ruffalo (“Avengers: Endgame”) and Toni Collette (“Hereditary”).

The production is a science fiction, based on the book of the same name by writer Edward Ashton, about a clone that integrates a colonization effort in a world of ice. Whenever there is a very dangerous mission, even a suicide one, the team turns to Mickey Mouse. Considered expendable, he is replaced by an identical clone every time he dies, keeping most of his memories intact.

After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of their deal. But he survives the last dangerous mission and, upon returning to base, is surprised to see a new clone in his place, Mickey8. Since the idea of duplicate clones is universally hated, he knows that if he is caught he will be instantly recycled. But the secret of their survival may be the only way to save the mission on planet Niflheim.

Pattinson will play Mickey Mouse and the other actors have not been revealed their roles.

Brad Pitt and his production company Plan B are also leading the project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pitt and Joon Ho had also previously worked together on the production of “Okja”.

“Mikey7” doesn’t have a known production schedule or preview date yet.
