Palmeiras in talks to sell Bruno Tabata to Qatar SC

The buyout clause is 29 million reals, but the Qatari club wants to lower the values. The player did not perform at Palmeiras

Palmeiras is once again preparing to fill its coffers with player sales. After all, the club is close to definitively negotiating the midfielder Bruno Tabata, 27, who is currently on loan at Qatar SC until June this year. The Brazilian’s contract with the Qatari club includes a purchase option, worth around €5 million (R$29 million).

The Qatari team intends to reduce Verdão’s request to negotiate for Tabata, who does not want to return to Brazil at the moment. The player has a contract with Palmeiras until June 30, 2026.

The midfielder was signed in August 2022 to replace Gustavo Scarpa, who had already signed a pre-contract with Nottingham Forest, from England, and will leave Palmeiras on a free transfer at the beginning of 2023. At the time, Tabata cost €5 million (around R$26 million at the time), paid in installments to Sporting, from Portugal.

Despite the expectations and recommendations of coach Abel Ferreira, the player did not perform as expected at Alviverde. After all, there were only 32 games, only 12 as a starter. He scored two goals and provided one assist.

However, at Qatar SC, Bruno Tabata has done well. In 28 games, he has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists, being one of the main names of the team and an absolute starter. So much so that the club wants to sign him permanently. Palmeiras, on the other hand, does not give up on values and wants to recover the money invested.
