In an interview with The New Yorker, the filmmaker said she had difficulty making her idea work as a film.

Lena Dunhamknown for the series Girls (2012-2017), will no longer direct the live-action Polly Pocketannounced in July 2023, which will have Lily Collins (Emily in Paris) in the lead role. The information was revealed by the filmmaker herself in an interview with The New Yorker.

“I’m going to tell you something here that I haven’t told anyone: I’m not going to make the movie Polly Pocketsaid Dunham. She also said that she had been working on the film’s script for about three years and suggested that, despite the investment, it would not be possible to make the film the way she would like:

“I felt like unless I can do it that way, I won’t do it. I don’t think I have it in me. I feel like the next movie I make needs to feel like a movie that I absolutely need to make. [Que] no one but me could do it. And I thought other people could do it Polly Pockethe completed.

With no release date scheduled, the live-action in Polly Pocket would tell the story of a young girl who befriends a woman the size of a pocket doll. It is not yet known whether the project will continue with another filmmaker or if it will be canceled.
