New on Netflix: Peaky Blinders Star in This Enchanting Thriller That Will Twist Your Brain

Attention fans of high-voltage thrillers, Netflix has just released a new Italian film that should pique your curiosity. This feature film combines family drama and fascinating investigation, two themes familiar to fans of the series and movies.

Therefore, you will see Annabelle Wallis, seen in Peaky Blinders, Star Trek: Discovery, Annabelle and Malignant, and Riccardo Scamarcio, seen in Polisse, Dalida, John Wick 2, La Scuola Cattolica and Tre Piani.

The British actress and the Italian actor play Elena and Pietro, a divorced couple with a difficult relationship who try their best to raise their children. Everything changes when Pietro takes the young Giovanni and Bianca to his secluded country house, which attracts scrupulous buyers.

A fascinating thriller set against the backdrop of missing children

Titled Fainted in the Night, this Italian film directed by Renazio de Maria is a remake of the Argentinian feature The Seventh Floor (Séptimo) by Patxi Amezcua (which is available on Prime Video if you want to catch it later). The thriller will immerse us in the disturbing disappearance of children, which will put the lives of the couple in danger.

While he had custody after his divorce from Elena, an American psychiatrist expatriate in Italy, Pietro noticed his children disappearing from his country house in the middle of the night. He is quickly joined by his ex-wife to look for them before he gets a call from the kidnapper who demands €150,000 in exchange for the children.

The relationship between the two ex-lovers is complicated, given that Pietro has a troubled past and that Elena emigrated to Italy because of her love for him and that she blamed him. Their dream was to restore the farm and turn it into a hotel, but things went wrong and Pietro and Elena are now separated.

They first ask Nicola, Pietro’s former friend, for help to have the necessary funds to pay the kidnapper, who has given them only 36 hours if they want to see their children again. But this former friend asks him for a favor of 150,000 euros – namely to collect drugs on an island between Puglia and Greece in his boat.

If the beginning of Vanished in the Night seems logically quite classic for a thriller of this genre, this is the sequel that should bother you. Because after returning from his little mission, everything in Pietro’s life has changed and everyone is acting very strange. The latter thinks he is going crazy and will have to redouble his efforts to solve this crazy riddle.

Fade into the Night is available on Netflix.
