Rally shooting that left Trump injured is being investigated as attempted murder

The US presidential candidate was hastily removed, his face bloodied, from the event in Pennsylvania

The shooting at a rally featuring Donald Trump is being investigated as an attempted murder, two sources told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

This Saturday, the 13th, the former president and Republican candidate for this year’s US elections was forced to be hastily removed from an event in Pennsylvania after gunshots were heard. The images show Trump with a bloody face as authorities rush to leave the scene.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger said in a telephone interview that the alleged shooter is dead and that at least one person who attended the rally was killed. President Joe Biden has been notified of the incident, the White House said.

Donald Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement that the US presidential candidate is “doing well” and hospitalized after being rushed from a rally where gunfire was heard. Footage showed Trump with a bloody face as authorities rushed to leave the scene.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action in removing him from a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after gunshots were heard in the crowd,” it read. “He is doing well and is being evaluated at a local hospital. More details to come soon.”

The U.S. Secret Service also reported that Trump is safe and well. “An incident occurred at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former president is safe. This is an active Secret Service investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available,” Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
