The Spanish striker surpasses Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, who played in the Euro 2016 final at the age of 18 years and 328 days
Lamine Yamal made history this Sunday (14), at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany, when he defended Spain in the Euro 2024 final against England. At 17 years old and just 1 day old, the Barcelona star became the youngest athlete to play in a final of the continental tournament. The striker celebrated his birthday the day before the final.

To achieve the feat, Yamal surpassed Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, who played and was champion in the 2016 decider. He was 18 years and 328 days old at the time.
Lamine Yamal, however, did not break the record for the youngest player to score in a European match. The mark is continued by Italy’s Pietro Anastasi, who scored in the second match of the 1968 final against former Yugoslavia, at the age of 20 years and 64 days.
Despite being very young, the striker has been one of the strengths of Fúria in the Eurocup. He has scored one goal and provided three assists in this edition of the European Championship.
