Charlize Theron explains why ‘The Old Guard 2’ hasn’t been released yet.

Charlize Theron gave fans an update on why The Old Guard 2has not yet been released. The 48-year-old actress starred in The Old Guardin 2020, and fans are eagerly awaiting a sequel to the comic book adaptation of Greg Rucka since then.

Charlize explained that the sequel to the film, which wrapped filming about two years ago, has faced substantial delays due to major leadership changes at Netflix. The artist gave an update on the status of the sequel to Variety:

A Netflix went through a big change. We got kind of stuck in it and our post-production was wrapped up, I think, five weeks later.”

After stabilization of the Netflixwriters’ and actors’ strikes further delayed post-production of The Old Guard 2:

Now we’re finally back to work, and I’m really excited. It’s a great movie, we wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for it. I really love this movie,” she added.

Despite the setback and additional delays caused by the strikes, the actress said she never worried about the possibility of The Old Guard 2 be archived.

When The Old Guard was first released in 2020, the Netflix announced that the film had reached 72 million viewers in its first four weeks online.

After becoming a huge success for the Netflixa sequel has been approved. The sequel has not yet received a confirmed release date from the streaming service. However, Charlize assured fans that it will be “soon.”
