It’s one of this summer’s most anticipated blockbusters: the return to cinema of Twister, the disaster movie that celebrated the ’90s and whose sequel is here.
Twisters came out on top with over 60,000 entries on the first day in France. Still, this is far lower than the first installment, which gathered 356,265 curious people on its first day.
Twisters is a sequel to Twister, as both films are set in Oklahoma (where they were filmed) and share Dorothy, a device that contains a number of sensors that allow you to track a tornado after it’s touched down. The characters of the feature film 2024 use it to carry out their mission, and we can say, to simplify, that their actions are possible thanks to what Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) did well in 1996.
In second place is a comedy that presents us as a cross between “The Truman Show” and “Les Visiteurs,” directed by Kad Merad, Clovis Kornilak and Audran Katin: Minion. Featured in the hit series Les Bracelets Rouges, Audran Catin slips into the costume of Lewis, a young lazy party animal.
The latter multiplies the escape and spends the fortune of his father, the president of a luxury hotel group. Angry, the latter decides to teach his son a good lesson, with a revolutionary idea: make him believe that Sami has mysteriously landed. Half a century earlier, during the time of Louis XIV! Falling into this carefully crafted masquerade, the young man who became ‘Piscar’ quickly discovers that this was not a castle for everyone back then!
Indian film is on the 3rd place in Santo, presented in the Un Certain Regard section at the recent Cannes Film Festival. The setting is this: a rural region in northern India. After the death of her husband, a young woman in Santosh inherits his position and becomes a police officer, as the law allows. When he is called to the scene of the murder of a low-caste girl, Santosh finds himself immersed in a thrilling investigation with the charismatic Inspector Sharma, who takes him under his wing.
