He is the most famous serial killer on the small screen. And after the first failed finale followed a not-so-successful comeback a few years later, here’s its prequel. We’re talking, of course, about Dexter, who has rocked us for years in the guise of the magnetic Michael C. Hall. But now it’s time for Dexter: Original Sin, its prequel series.
Set 15 years before the events of the original series, this prequel takes us to Miami in 1991. The ten episode series stars Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, Christian Slater as Harry Morgan (his adoptive father) and Molly. Brown as Debra Morgan (his sister).
This new series aims to rekindle interest in the dark and complex world of Dexter Morgan by exploring his origins and the reasons that led him to become the serial killer he became. The official synopsis describes Dexter as a young man who goes from a simple student to a serial killer hungry for justice. Guided by his father, he develops a strict moral code to weed out those who deserve to be ostracized from society, while avoiding the radar of law enforcement.
The first images in the Dexter tradition
The first images from Dexter: Original Sin — released by Variety on its X account (formerly Twitter) — offer a glimpse into Dexter’s past. It’s fascinating because we find the color and “mood” of the parent series. And the series promises to pay special attention to the construction of Dexter’s moral code and his relationship with his father.

To top it all off, Clyde Phillips, Dexter’s original showrunner, returns for this prequel. Now, fans will have to wait until the release to discover a new side of Dexter Morgan’s story.
