In the 17th episode of the 11th season, which aired in 2000, Lisa Simpson became the first female president of the United States. She is seen wearing a dress similar to the one worn by Kamala Harris at Joe Biden’s inauguration, hinting at her future rise to the presidency.
The episode also points to a predecessor who left behind a budget crisis for President Lisa to handle, strongly suggesting that a real estate mogul (Donald Trump) had already held the office.
On social media, many users were quick to notice the strong parallels between the aforementioned episode and the reality we are witnessing in 2024. The color purple that Lisa wears in the episode is a similarity that has attracted attention, given that Kamala Harris usually dresses in the same way.
Even Al Jean, the show’s creator, tweeted images of the similarities. “The Simpsons prediction I’m proud to be a part of,” he wrote.
The Simpsons Already Predicted Trump’s Presidency
Biden, 81, announced last Sunday (21) that he will no longer be the US presidential candidate in this year’s elections. The announcement was reportedly the result of growing pressure for him to step down, due to concerns about his health and age.
In the statement announcing the news, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, currently seen as one of the favorites to run against Donald Trump.
While it remains uncertain whether Harris will actually become the Democratic nominee, something her party is expected to decide only in August, she has already said she intends to seek the nomination.
