The feature film ‘I’m Still Here’, by Walter Salles, will compete for the festival’s main section
The Brazilian filmmaker Walter Salles returns to the cinema with I’m still herewhich will compete in the main show of the Venice Film Festival 2024competing for the prestigious Golden Lion. The film is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva and tells the story of the Paiva family during the military regime in Brazil. The plot begins with the disappearance of Marcelo’s father, a deputy who was impeached, and addresses the pain and resistance in the face of political repression. The cast includes names such as: Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello and Fernanda Montenegro.

The Festival, one of the most prestigious and oldest in the world, will take place from August 28th to September 7th this year. The event will be opened by the out-of-competition screening of The Ghosts Still Have Fun – Beetlejuice Beetlejuicein Tim Burtonwhich marks one of the highlights of the festival’s opening.
