Olympics: Coach Says Rebeca Andrade Will Only Win Gold If Simone Biles Makes a Mistake

The coach admits difficulties compared to the level presented by the American rival

Faced with great performances in the qualifying phase of the first day of Olympic gymnastics this Sunday (28), Brazilian Rebeca Andrade confirmed her favoritism and secured a place in five finals, in addition to the team final. Even so, her coach was honest and admitted the American’s favoritism Simone Biles to win the gold medal.

Speaking to the press after Sunday’s competition, Chico Porath was very honest and said that there is no way to develop a strategy to go for gold due to the complexity of Biles’ jump. He also said that Rebeca Andrade’s only chance of becoming champion depends on a mistake by her American rival.

– Now, there is no strategy, the average that Biles does will happen (of Rebeca’s victory) only if it happens like at the World Championships, where Biles can make mistakes. She is jumping better and better,” he said.

Ranked in five of the six finals, Rebeca Andrade will start fighting for the podium in the individual categories starting next Thursday (01).
