Great cast and crew

The five-episode series will feature Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, along with historic Doctor Who actors Gemma Redgrave (Kate Lethbridge-Stewart) and Alexander Devriant (Colonel Ibrahim). Russell T Davies, showrunner and executive producer of Doctor Who, expressed his excitement during a Comic-Con panel. The Hollywood Reporter :

It’s a war of epic proportions, with a great cast.He also explained that Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw have already appeared in Doctor Who, but they will be playing new characters this time around.

An ambitious plot

According to the official synopsis released by Disney and the BBC: “When an ancient and terrifying species emerges from the ocean, appearing spectacular to humanity, an international crisis begins. With the entire population at risk, UNIT launches a war of land and sea.

There is a race that lives under the oceans– Russell T Davies said about Sea Demons at the Comic-Con press conference, adding:I am very lucky to work with such wonderful actors. It’s a huge, muscular, thrilling drama that will shake the Who universe to its core. When the Doctor isn’t in town, all of humanity is in trouble.“.

Production on The War Between the Land and the Sea begins next month, with Dylan Holmes-Williams directing. The series will be available exclusively on Disney+ internationally and on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
