The Rings of Power: This Season 2 Trailer (Finally!) Is a Real Eye-Potter

At San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video released a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two. This Season 2, marked by the return of the Dark Lord Sauron, finally seems to give the series the depth and intensity that Season 1 lacked.

The Terrible Return of Sauron

This trailer highlights the reappearance of Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers, a central character who could well define fans’ interest in the series. Hunted by Galadriel (Morphyd Clarke), Sauron finds himself isolated, without an army or an ally. However, his cunning and determination to create rings of power to control the people of Middle-earth takes center stage in this new season.

Co-showrunner JD Payne explained at Comic-Con:Sauron is back and with him danger, death and battle“, they inform us The Hollywood Reporter.

According to this season 2 synopsis, “The new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging everyone to find their place in a world increasingly on the brink of disaster. As friendships are tested and kingdoms begin to crumble, the forces of good – elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and dwarves – will fight even more valiantly to preserve each other: for each other.“

A revival for the series?

Despite the mixed reviews of the first season, this new trailer seems to promise some epic scenes and a focus on fan-favorite characters like Elrond (Robert Aramaio) and Durin IV (Owain Arthur). A few days ago, the platform played a similar card by announcing a spectacular opening scene.
