Tricolor has six players in DM and two more returning
Sao Paulo is experiencing a full medical department, as six players are recovering from injuries. Some of them will have less time to return to the field, while others will miss virtually or all of the rest of the season.
Midfielder Pablo Maia is expected to take the longest to return. He has been out of action since late April with a left thigh injury. The 22-year-old underwent surgery and is expected to return only during Sao Paulo’s pre-season in 2025.
Player of the same sector, Alisson also underwent surgery, but on his right ankle. The midfielder is another who missed the rest of the season.
Midfielder Liziero was diagnosed with a muscle injury to the left side of his hip and was already out for San Paolo at Choque-Rei. The classic, in fact, caused injuries to San Paolo, who lost Moreira, Patryck and Ferreira.
Moreira has a muscle injury to the back of his left thigh, while Patryck, who left Allianz Parque in an ambulance after hitting his face on the ground, broke his collarbone. Ferreira has a pulled muscle in his left thigh and is expected to be out for around 12 weeks.
On the other hand, coach Luís Zubeldía will have to count on the return of Erick and Igor Vinícius in the duel this Thursday (22), for the return leg of the Libertadores round of 16, against Nacional-URU. The first was nursing a soreness in the anterior region of the right thigh, while the second was improving his physical condition after being spared to avoid injuries.
