Philippines accuses Chinese ships of blocking refueling missions in South China Sea

The Philippines on Sunday accused Chinese ships of blocking a vessel carrying supplies for Filipino fishermen in the South China Sea, saying the boats had engaged in “aggressive and dangerous” maneuvers.

The Philippine Fisheries Bureau vessel “was targeted by the People’s Liberation Army Navy vessel and several Chinese coast guard vessels, which attempted to surround and block the humanitarian mission,” the Manila-based South China Sea task force said in a statement.

The Chinese coast guard said it had taken “control measures” against the Philippine vessel that “illegally” entered waters near the Sabina Shoal and repeatedly approached its vessels in an unsafe manner.
