The fourth season of “Stranger Things” featured Max Mayfield more than any other character. But the reason for this was originally a farewell expectation. In a video from the show’s official after-show, the Duffer brothers revealed that they started the season by preparing for Max’s death.
“For a while that’s what would have happened,” Ross Duffer said on “Stranger Things After Show” about Max’s ending in season four. “But in the end we ended up with that … we wanted to wrap up with a few more questions at the end of the season. It’s still very confusing if Max will be okay, we just don’t know. We wanted to leave his fate in the air, moving forward in the season 5 “.
Sadie Sink’s character ended season 4 blindly, with broken bones in her arms and legs and in a coma.
The actress herself stated in interviews that the creators of “Stranger Things” have not yet informed her if Max will be in the final stretch of the series – which she will only start writing in August.
The statement on Max’s fate can be seen in the video below, at the time of the 7-minute conversation with presenter Felicia Day (Charlie from “Supernatural”).
