Kate Winslet, the Oscar-winning actress and world film star, is preparing to return to the small screen with The Spot, a new drama series ordered directly to Hulu. Written by Ed Solomon, also showrunner and executive producer, the series is produced in association with A24 and 20th Television.
The plot of The Spot follows a famous surgeon, played by Kate Winslet, and her schoolteacher husband, who begin to suspect that the doctor may be responsible for the child’s death in an accident. As they investigate to uncover the truth, their lives spiral into ever-growing suspicions and dark secrets.
Back to TV
Kate Winslet, known for her iconic roles in Titanic, The Reader (which won her an Oscar) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, has also proven herself on television.
She won two Emmy Awards for her performances in Mildred Pierce (2011) and Eastown (2021). These two series not only cemented his status as a movie star, but also proved his ability to transcend film and television as long as the story told is strong and he can flesh out complex and nuanced characters.
With The Spot, Winslet returns to television – in mode after playing a dictator – in a role that promises to explore the darkest corners of crime and betrayal.
The series marks a new collaboration with Hulu, previously seen on HBO’s prestigious productions. The platform – whose work is usually distributed by Disney+ in France – draws on the experience of Solomon, the author of such successful films as Men Black in and Elusive, to offer what we hope will be a fascinating and intense series.
Spot should hit the screens in late 2025 or even 2026.
