Apple TV + has announced the renewal of “Fortuna” (Loot), a comedy series in which Maya Rudolph (“Mission of the Bride”) plays a spoiled and extravagant billionaire.

Created by Alan Yang (“Little America”) and Matt Hubbard (“30 Rock”), “Fortuna” is a satire on the ostentation of the rich. In the plot, the character of Rudolph has his life turned upside down when he discovers her husband’s lover for two decades. Ridiculed by gossip publications and unsure how to handle the divorce, she makes a second discovery: she has a real charity foundation in her name.

From there, she decides to prove that she is more than an alienated wealthy woman by reinventing herself as a philanthropist.

“Thanks to Maya, Alan, Matt and the entire incredibly talented cast and creative team who created a show full of captivating and engaging characters and hilarious and heartwarming moments throughout each episode,” said Matt Cherniss, Apple’s Head of Programming. TV +, in the renewal notice. “This series has captured the hearts of the global audience and we are looking forward to the second season.”

In addition to Rudolph, the attraction also features Michaela Jaé “MJ” Rodriguez in her first role since “Pose”, as the lead character’s founding manager.

“Fortuna” was made available for streaming on June 24 and is currently in the midst of its first season’s weekly airing.
