Thanks to the new rewatch podcast launched Pod meets the worlddedicated the boy meets the world fans were able to learn many interesting facts about the classic sitcom. Recently BMW former students Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong explained why Cory’s little sister Morgan changed actress midway through the series. This week, the three podcast hosts had a chance to meet George Feeny himself, William Daniels. Although Daniels has a career dating back to the 1950s, the TGIF sitcom remains arguably his most iconic role. As a result, the beloved star has many fans, and with that he remembered a hilarious encounter with a fan who would have lived up to Feeny himself.
The 95-year-old actor had a great chat with his former co-stars Pod meets the world (a project in which series star Ben Savage was not involved) and discussed his illustrious career. Of course, the conversation quickly turned to fans and which of William Daniels is the most energetic: that of the ABC sitcom, the acclaimed medical drama. Holy in another placeor the musical 1776? Of course, the revered actor said so the boy meets the worldis in first place. The Emmy winner illustrated this by talking about a particular interaction with overzealous young fans that occurred while he was walking with his wife in New York:
I remember in New York [I’m] in a street, and past a bus, I walk. And a bunch of guys got off the bus, they looked at me and said, ‘Mr. Feny! And they come running, and I ran around the block.
Imagine seeing Mr. Feeny being chased by young fans on the streets of New York. This is a show, but the answer definitely fits the personality of the imaginary educator. The situation also speaks to how much people love William Daniels, who once enthusiastically approved a Taylor Swift album. Daniels’ wife, actress Bonnie Bartlett, also has a clear memory of the incident and reflected on it with another crazy encounter:
He said, ‘Sorry, see you later. They terrified him, absolutely terrified him. And they could be in New York, specifically. When Bill wrote a book and we went to sign a book … they chased us, they got in the car, they did everything.
It’s crazy to hear, but then again when you’re on a show like the boy meets the world, which still resonates almost 30 years after its debut, your presence can arouse great emotions in people. So even the signing of a book can turn into an event reminiscent of a Beatles concert. The knight knight alum was (and still is) everyone’s favorite hard and wise teacher. That’s why fans got excited when it was confirmed that he was one of the BMW characters who would return for Disney the girl meets the world.
Honestly, I’m glad the veteran actor is still around to tell his stories. William Daniels poured more on his BMW experience in the last episode and you can find out more by checking Pod meets the world wherever you listen to podcasts. You can also subscribe to Disney + to watch all seasons of the boy meets the world Yes the girl meets the world if you like more, Mr. Feeny.
