The left back will have to play in the Brasileirão, but will not be able to play in the Copa Libertadores
After last Sunday’s victory, Fluminense announced this Monday (02) another reinforcement for the team led by Mano Menzes: the Colombian left back Gabriel Fuentes, who is already training at CT Carlos Castilho, with a contract until August 2028.
The athlete is 27 years old and comes from Junior Barranquilla. Before, in 2023, he had a short stint at Real Zaragoza, playing one season. He returned to Junior, adding eight games, one goal and one assist in the current edition of the Copa Libertadores.
— I am very happy and grateful to God for the great opportunity to be in a club as big as Fluminense. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and do my best. My desire is to bring a lot of joy to this team and the fans, who deserve it so much. I saw the game yesterday (Sunday) and it was great to see the atmosphere and the great victory. I am happy to be here — said the player.
Having already played in the Copa Libertadores, precisely in Junior Barranquilla, the new reinforcement will be available only in the Brazilian championship, to help the Tricolor to get out of the relegation zone once and for all. According to GE, Fluminense paid about 1.2 million dollars (about 6.6 million R $) for 60% of the economic rights of the left back.
— I am very grateful to the fans, who from the moment they knew about the possibility of my arrival, sent me messages, commented on my Instagram and made me feel welcomed. I come to give the best of myself with a lot of professionalism, heart and determination, always for this team — he concluded.
Gabriel Fuentes meets other compatriots at Fluminense, such as Jhon Arias, Keven Serna and Jan Lucumí. More experienced, the full-back has played for the Colombian national team and was called up by the youth team.
