It’s been a while since David Fincher has developed this many projects, and frankly, it’s nice. In previous months, it became known that the American director is attached to the project of the remake of the Korean series Squid Game, which was added to the development of the prequel of the film Chinatown.
He portrayed Brad Pitt in three iconic films
For several years, David Fincher has been cooperating with the Netflix platform. From this partnership came such successful series as: “House of Cards”, “Mind Hunter and Love”, “Death + Robots”, but also two films: Mank and The Killer.
This collaboration allowed the filmmaker to start projects that were no longer possible for him to finance through traditional film channels.
The director of several cult films, David Fincher, filmed Brad Pitt three times: in Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. His filmography includes many gems adored by moviegoers, including Zodiac with Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo, Panic Room with Jodie Foster, and The Social Network, a biopic about Mark Zuckerberg.
A script written more than fifteen years ago
And that association will continue through Western Bitterroot, which David Fincher will soon lead. Imagined by Michael Gillio (Dungeons and Dragons), the film, described as a Wild West thriller, tells the story of an old cowboy whose savings disappear from his bank account.
So the latter undertakes to kill the thieves of his money, while the sheriff (his own son) pursues him to prevent the carnage.
The script for Bitterroot was written over fifteen years ago and was famously blacklisted in 2008 (under the name The Big Hole). In 2011, the adaptation project almost saw the light of day. The film was to be directed by Michael Gillio himself, and produced by Gore Verbinski.
The information is spread by several American media (including unofficial, but still reliable sites). What’s on Netflix) has not yet been signed by either the platform or the representatives of the American filmmaker.
