Tesla to launch self-driving system in Europe and China in early 2025

The software still needs regulatory approval in both countries; After the company released a roadmap for upcoming technology launches, shares rose in pre-market trading in New York

SAO PAULO AND NEW YORK – A Tesla announced on Thursday 5 that it will launch its self-driving system, called Full-Self Driving (FSD), in Europe and inside China in the first quarter of 2025. The software still requires regulatory approval in both countries.

On its official account on the X platform, the company has published a roadmap of upcoming technology launches. For the months of September and October, the carmaker Elon Musk plans to launch the Cybertruck model integrated into the FSD system.

According to Tesla, the driver-assist system, currently under intense scrutiny in the United States, helps the vehicle steer, accelerate and brake in response to other vehicles and pedestrians. Although it is an automatic system, the company and industry experts say drivers should keep their hands on the wheel and pay attention to the road while using it.

Following the announcement of the launch, Tesla shares rose 2.38% in pre-market trading in New York, around 8:15 a.m. Brasilia time.

According to Bloomberg News Agency, Tesla has undergone data security assessments in China and reached a mapping and navigation agreement with tech giant Baidu. The company has received approval to test FSD technology on the streets of Shanghai.

In July, Musk said he expected the system to be approved in Europe, China and other countries by the end of the year. The company is betting on the system to boost sales and keep up with Chinese rivals also working on similar systems.
