When will Wicked, the adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, premiere?

One of the most anticipated productions of the year is, certainly, the film adaptation of Wickeda successful Broadway musical. The novelty, which is a prequel of the story presented in the classic The Wizard of Oz (1939), premieres in Brazilian cinemas in November. But when?

What’s the story behind the news?

Wicked tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphababefore becoming the Wicked Witch of the Westand Glindathe future Good Witch of the Southwho become best friends, even with opposite personalities, different points of view and the fight for the love of the same man.

Two-time Oscar nominee for Harriet2019 feature film, Cynthia Erivo assumes the role of Elphaba in the adaptation, while the actress, singer and big fan of Wicked, Ariana Grandewas cast to live Glinda. In Brazil, actresses Myra Ruiz and Fabi Bangwho lived Elphaba and Glinda in the theater, respectively, will reprise their roles in the dubbed version of the new film.

The cast of Wicked still has Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Travel Companions), Bowen Yang (Megaromantic, Saturday Night Live) and Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere at Once), between others.

When does it premiere? Wicked?

Previously scheduled for November 28, Wickeddirected by Jon M. Chuof In a New York Neighborhood (2020), will hit Brazilian theaters a week earlier, from November 21stfreeing him from the dispute with Moana 2with whom he shared the previous date. Watch the trailer:
