Noporn celebrates Liana Padilha’s legacy and releases EP including feat. with Jup do Bairro

EP ‘I Know You’ brings together two previously unreleased recordings, including one in partnership with Jup do Bairro

The electronic music duo Noporn released the EP in the early hours of this Friday, the 6th I Know Youwith two new tracks signed by Liana Padilha and Lucas Freire — one of them being in partnership with Jup of the Neighborhood.

Published by the European label Inner Shah Recordings, the EP features the title track “I Know You”, a re-recording by the side project Black ink (formed by Liana, Lucas and CassiusAugustus), and “Noite Triste”, an unprecedented partnership with Jup of the Neighborhoodboth developed last year, before the death of the lead singer of Noporn.

We created ‘I Know You’ before the European tour last year. We played it at the shows and were very happy with the way it affected people. We had the idea of creating more songs in that style, with a simple and rough sound, to make a new album, to give a new touch to the aesthetic of the album. Noporn…But life and death had other plans. – Lucas Freireproducer of the tracks and partner of Liana in life and in Noporn.

“’I Know You’ is a rescue of a song previously recorded in our other project, Black ink. We wanted to have more songs in English to connect with international touring audiences. And it worked,” Lucas added. “Around the same time, we met with Jup of the Neighborhood off stage, and then ‘Noite Triste’ was born, this song is about Liana and Jup having a delicious and chaotic date through the night in the city of São Paulo.”

It turned out that we couldn’t finish any more songs and soon after the I read returned to the stars… One day, talking to our friend Madd Rodwho lives between Porto and Berlin and runs the label Inner Shah, we came up with this idea for the release. These are songs made to conquer the world, we couldn’t leave them stored away.

About music production, Lucas Freire said that “I Know You” is simple and direct: “We used few channels and short lyrics. The idea was to come up with something very raw, but that would work within these electronic scenes we are in. We were working with an electro sound focused on a post-punk feeling, which is a wave very typical of the poetics that Liana was living, and so was I.”

“’Noite Triste’ was born from a jam, also with few channels and a lot of energy. Liana and Jup They were majestically stitching together the lyrics in duet, and in one afternoon we had the song ready. I used a percussion sound on my electronic drums and we managed to achieve this pleasant and lively, yet simple and direct atmosphere”, he added.

The results of these experiments are now available on streaming services — and more is to come. “I want to continue to dig into this large treasure chest of drafts that we have collected over the years so that we can continue to delight in and celebrate the wonderful legacy of the music and message of Liana”, he concluded. Lucas.
