Mariah Carey was elected as MusiCares 2026 Personality of the Year. The singer will be honored two days before the Grandmotherat the annual ceremony to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 30, 2026.
Second Varietythe choice was made due to Mariah Carey’s years of contribution to the musical world and the singer’s philanthropic attitude, which has helped those affected by Hurricane Katrina and the covid-19 pandemic.
“We are honored to recognize Mariah Carey as this year’s personality. She is a true creative force and a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Her artistry and voice have helped shape the sound of our times. We look forward to celebrating her extraordinary career on this special evening,” said Harvey Mason Jr. CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares.
Theresa Wolters, executive director of MusiCares, said the singer has an influence beyond the musical sphere.
“He has consistently used his platform to provide tangible support to communities, whether through disaster relief, youth empowerment, or programs that help those facing barriers to opportunity.”
Last year, MusiCares’ Person of the Year was the Grateful Dead.
