Nanterre – Gabriel Bandeira won three medals at the Paris Paralympic Games. However, the swimmer appreciates the lessons learned from the edition more than the results achieved.
“It hasn’t been an easy year. I think next time I’ll be able to deal better with the unexpected in training. I think it’s a topic that is talked about a lot today, I think especially for us in S14, it’s a bit complicated to deal with problems, frustrations, so I think I’ll be able to deal much better with the next ones”, analyzed the swimmer who belongs to a course for people with intellectual disabilities.
Bill, as is known, has four world titles and won three medals in Tokyo-2020, one gold and two silver. In Paris he won two bronzes, in addition to the silver obtained this Friday (6) in the 100 meters butterfly, considered the most difficult race for an athlete.
“It’s a race I don’t train much for, and improving my time with the Americas record makes me very happy and motivated for the next ones,” said the swimmer, who finished the race in 58.54.
Gabriel also gave an overall assessment of his participation in Paris. “I think that in general it is a very important resilience race, in general my races are very similar, there are ups and downs, but this one seemed quite turbulent and I managed to finish with the best time of my life in a race for which I trained very little,” added the 24-year-old.
The athlete’s strongest event is the 100m butterfly, where he was frustrated by his bronze. The other bronze came in the 4×100m freestyle medley relay.
