“If I respond, I’ll have to share my opinion without other participants being able to respond, and that won’t help. That’s why I don’t answer.”

The custom of the fact?
The film was financed and sold solely on the name and popularity of Joaquin Phoenix. Without his presence, the whole project is canceled, without the possibility of changing the main actor. Director Todd Haynes is yet to speak publicly.
Nevertheless, producer Christine Vachon – a close associate of the filmmaker – posted a message on her Facebook account on August 11: “It’s a nightmare. (…) And please, if you’re trying to drive home the point by telling us “you shouldn’t hire a straight actor in a movie like this”. This is his project that he brought to the US.“
Since then, some details about Joaquin Phoenix’s behavior have been revealed. The Hollywood Reporter In particular, it is reported that the actress was also threatened by Ridley Scott to quit filming Napoleon before eventually changing her mind.
