Lucas reveals conversation with Brazilian teammate about Jamal Lewis, Sao Paulo signing

Maglia tricolore 7 spoke with Bruno Guimarães, from Newcastle

Lucas Moura, attacking midfielder for Sao Paulo, is with the Brazilian team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Among his teammates is midfielder Bruno Guimarães, a player from Newcastle, Jamal Lewis’ former club, a new addition to the Tricolor, with whom Sao Paulo has spoken.

– Yes, I spoke (with Bruno Guimarães) about our new clubmate, Jamal. He gave advice, he spoke well of him and his style, he is a player with a lot of strength who is very intense. I think he will help a lot and the important thing is to arrive with this mentality of being able to help and it will be very welcome – revealed Lucas Moura, in the mixed zone, after Brazil’s victory over Ecuador.

The number 7 of Sao Paulo also spoke of his happiness at returning to the Brazilian team, something that hadn’t happened since 2018, when he was called up by coach Tite to play the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Argentina.

– First of all, I am very happy to return to the national team after six years, it is a great emotion and joy, it is as if it were my first call-up. It was a great goal that I had when I returned to Sao Paulo and I am achieving it today, realizing this dream. It is an honor to defend my country, I will do my best to add and improve our situation in the standings – added Lucas Moura.

Lucas Moura was not a starter, but replaced Paquetá in the second half. The player now has 36 games and four goals with the Brazilian national team, between 2011 and 2024. Brazil returns to the field to face Paraguay, on Tuesday (10), at 21:30, in Asunción, in the eighth round of the Qualifiers.
