Tricolor has invested almost 50 million reais in transfers
In the mid-2024 window, Fluminense reached a historic milestone for the club. With the purchases of Facundo Bernal, Kevin Serna, Ignácio and Gabriel Fuentes, Tricolor invested almost R$ 50 million and had the most aggressive market since 2016, which until then was the highest after the departure of Unimed in 2014.
In numbers, spending in the second half of this year amounted to R$ 49.3 million, including R$ 20.2 million for Facundo Bernal, R$ 12.3 million for Ignácio, R$ 10.1 million for Kevin Serna and R$ 6.7 million for Gabriel Fuentes. Earlier this year, it spent about R$ 20.4 million for the hiring of David Terans (R$ 14 million), Lelê (R$ 4 million) and Antônio Carlos (R$ 2.4 million).
Fluminense’s current investment is in contrast to the expenditure in 2023, when the team coached at the time by Fernando Diniz needed to invest in the purchase of rights or loans in only eight of the 32 athletes, for a total of R $ 30.79 million.
In addition to the names already mentioned, Thiago Silva, Nonato and Victor Hugo were also signed in the middle of the year, but they arrived at no cost to the Tricolore. The club’s financial scenario was further strengthened by the largest sale in its history in 2024: André was transferred to Wolverhampton for 22 million euros (about R$ 135.5 million).
After the departure of Unimed, the former main sponsor that made Influenza’s investments between 1999 and 2014, the Rio club began to negotiate with more moderate values and focus on players who arrived without purchase costs or on cheaper transfers.
