However, as the film took a long time to get off the ground, the two dropped out of the project due to scheduling issues, making room for the arrival of Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. The artist then decided to participate in the drama The Barriers of Love(1992).

Despite that, The Silence of the Lambs became one of the most acclaimed films of the 1990s. It also became the only horror film to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Ironically, the role of Clarice Starling was left with Jodie Fosterwith whom Pfeiffer would star Thelma & Louise.

Certainly aware that she made the wrong decision with the film’s success, the actress admitted, on one occasion, that she did not have a good idea of ​​which films had a chance of becoming hits.

I don’t have a good business sense. I’m always wrong.”

Despite this, her work has led her not only to international acclaim, but also to critical recognition and awards.
