Globo announced on Tuesday (3/12) that the American series “This is Us” will air from November.
The production, which received 11 Emmy nominations during its inaugural season, will air in place of the gastronomic reality show “Mestres do Sabor”, which will no longer screen in 2022..
“This is Us” is a melodrama with several soap opera elements, but instead of daily chapters, it aired weekly in the US for six seasons between 2016 and May 24.
The plot follows the story of a family. Rebecca and Jack are a couple expecting triplets in Pittsburgh, Kevin is a handsome TV actor tired of playing superficial roles, Kate is an obese woman living an eternal struggle to lose weight, and Randall reunites with her biological father who she abandoned him when he was just a baby. All of these stories are presented at the same time, but audiences will soon discover that not all of them unfold at the same time, plus the deeper reason they are related.
In all, the attraction won four Emmys: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Sterling K. Brown (“American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson”), who plays Randall, two wins for Best Guest Actor in a drama series for Ron Cephas Jones (“Luke Cage”), Randall’s biological father, plus an Emmy for Gerald McRaney (“House of Cards”), Rebecca’s obstetrician, also for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Created by Dan Fogelman (who also created “Galavant” and “The Neighbors”), the series also includes Mandy Moore (“Red Band Society Series”), Milo Ventimiglia (“The Whispers”), Justin Hartley (“Smallville”) , Chrissy Metz (“American Horror Story”), Susan Kelechi Watson (“Louie”) and Chris Sullivan (“The Knick”).
The production has already been broadcast in Brazil by Fox Premium and the Star + platform, which has all the episodes available.
